Who We Are
Center for Pain and Supportive Care (CPSC) is a pain management clinic specializing in chronic pain, spinal cord stimulators, vertebral compressions fractures, palliative treatment of vertebral tumors, and intrathecal pain pumps. Our patients can expect a unique whole-person approach to care with an emphasis on improving not only pain relief but also quality of life. That might mean incorporating medication therapies, interventional procedures, implantable intrathecal pumps and neurostimulators, yoga therapy, behavior health, rehabilitation, physical therapy, nutritional education, and social support opportunities. It is the mission of CPSC to facilitate lasting change, requiring a commitment from healthcare providers, active participation from patients, and continuous support from families and friends.
Supporting patients on their pain journey by improving quality of life and ensuring that no patient loses a day to pain
To deliver world class cancer and complex pain management to the greater Phoenix area so that no patient lives a day with uncontrolled pain or intolerable symptoms
Lisa Stearns, MD
Founder of CPSC
From early on in her career, Dr. Stearns was an innovator and educator. She taught families, patients, and the clinical community at large that traumas, relationships, health choices and spirituality cannot be ignored in the treatment of pain. Hundreds of doctors from around the nation and world have been impacted by her philosophy to treat the whole person as the path to a better quality of life.
Dr. Stearns was an internationally renowned Interventional Pain Specialist triple board-certified in anesthesiology, palliative medicine, and pain medicine. Her passion for changing the face of chronic pain treatment is evidenced by the active research department at CPSC specializing in both chronic and cancer pain research since 2003.
